James Murray

Waukesha STEM Academy
Principal
Waukesha STEM Academy
James Murray has pursued his dream in education for nearly twenty years and finds new avenues of excitement and growth, each and every year. Starting off his career in a highly transient, high-needs and at-risk environment, James quickly became hooked on working with all types of learners, especially those of diversity and with high needs. During his six years at a Bilingual School, James continued to work with diverse populations and completed his first Master’s Degree in Multi-Cultural Studies and Bilingual Education & ESL. When the opportunity to open a brand new charter school in the School District of Waukesha presented itself, James jumped onboard with the team who originally founded the Waukesha STEM Academy, where he is currently the Principal of the Randall and Saratoga Campus, which helps students learn in an innovative and collaborative setting, from kindergarten to eighth grade. With the firm belief that all students deserve a Personalized Education... period. James has worked hard to build a diverse team of leaders at each campus, who support Proficiency-Based Learning and cultivate a climate of “failing-forward” and understanding that disruptive innovation is a continuous innovation cycle, with a bottom-up approach to creating the ultimate learning experience for students.
